Oprah asked five people - all with different views and beliefs - this question and received some beautiful answers. Take a quick watch and think, what does prayer mean to you? Even if you may not approach prayer the same way as those in the video, it starts the conversation on God, prayer and spiritual life. In this video she interviews Brene Brown, Phil Jackson, Kerry Washington and more.
One part that stood out to me is when Kerry Washington said she believes if she asks God for something that matters to her, He has three answers:
2) Yes, but not right now.
3) No. Because I have something better in store for you.
I love this. It's so simple but so true. What a weight would lift off our shoulders if we looked at every ask expecting one of those three answers. What if we really believed that those are the only three answers God gives to us.
For all my single ladies, you know that relationship you desperately wanted to work out and didn't. Well, what if you looked the No as a "No, because I have someone better for you."
For all my HPG friends who get passed over for a promotion or job, what if He's saying "Yes, but not right now." Why? Because He has things for you to learn in the position you're in now. Humility? Teamwork? A good attitude? Look around and see what He's asking you to learn where you, with what you have, right now.
Think about a pressing situation in your life that you've been asking God for an answer. Can you apply one of these three answers to it? Try it now. When you do, you'll realize He is working everything out for your good. God has it in control, just keep asking and know that you serve a good God, one who has plans to prosper you and not to harm you...to give you hope and a future.
So, that situation on you mind well, good news! You do have one of these three answers coming your way: Yes. Yes but not right now. Or No because He has something better in store for you.
All will work out. Be confident, move forward and keep grounded in love.
Sending lots of love your way today,
